Pride Week Drag Show April 3rd @ 9PM - JC Atrium Pride Week is March 28th-April 3rd. Events occur throughout the week and culminate in the Annual Drag Show in the Johnson Center on Friday night.
Professional Development Training April 10th @ 10AM - Hub 1014 All staff are encouraged to attend "Leadership 101" presented by Dr. Nick Lennon of the LEAD office. Please RSVP to your advisor by April 3 at noon.

This week, WGMU debuts a new show Weathering the Storm. Student hosts James Luehrs and Katie Thomas try to engage the Mason student population in a program dedicated to the exploration of the various applications of weather beyond the immediate forecast.
Also, over the past two weeks WGMU has had the opportunity to interview; Frank Iero (formerly of My Chemical Romance), They Might Be Giants, and Steve Aoki!

• TIME SHEETS: Fill out time sheet daily if you are a hourly employee.
• OFFICE HOURS: If you are a RA employee you must attend all scheduled office hours unless an emergency occurs and you let us know in advance of your shift.
• EVENT STAFFING: Office policy states that all staff members are required to work events that occur during their office hours. Basically, everyone should be doing their part to help represent Student Media at community events. Sign up here: bit.ly/1vfqag3
•PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: The LEAD (Leadership Education and Development) office will be sponsoring a professional development session focusing on leadership on Friday, April 10th at 10:00 a.m. in Conference Room 1202. This event is open to all of Student Media - including leaders, paid staff, and volunteers. Please RSVP to your advisor by noon on April 3rd.

Student Media is constantly thinking of new ways to showcase the talented and hard working students that work in our office. As a result, we are implementing a Student Recognition Award Program. All paid student staff, volunteers, submitters, co-curricular students, and interns have the ability to nominate peers, team members and superiors in the categories of Best Creative Content, Leader in Action, Outstanding Student of the Month, and Student Media Spirit.
WINNER: Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Award!
Let's hear a big round of applause for Student Media's own Hau Chu who was named the Region 2 winner of the SPJ Mark of Excellence Award in the sports writing category for his article, "A Second Chance At Life"! Hau now goes on to compete nationally alongside fellow journalists from across the country. Stay tuned for those results...
Volition raised over $300 at their Open Mic Night for the Children's at NIH. Thank you to all that donated to this great cause.
Sales Team reached over 60% of their advertising goal for the year. Kudos to Carlos and his team on the great work.
Sara Moniuszko was offered an Editorial internship with USA TODAY's 2015 Summer Newsroom Internship Program.
Avery Powell was offered a job as a Digital Journalist for WHSV-TV3 in Harrisonburg, Virgina.
Tyler Byrum was nominated by the Department of Communication for a College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) Dean's Challenge Scholarship for 2015-16.
Alex Hinton and Andrew Hood were offered a paid internship through the Virgina Association of Broadcasters (VAB).
Ceci Cole McInturff So to Speak's Art Editor, will be showcasing her thesis exhibition this week.

A big shout out to all members of the Student Media Live Sports Team that were involved last week (Mar. 24-Mar. 29). They broadcast a total of 7 Mason Athletic games over the course of 5 days, the highest number ever in program history!
