TWITTER ADVERTISING IS EASY AND EFFECTIVE

BY LOUIS EKSTEEN

Twitter continues to surprise investors on the downside of growth expectations. Investor reaction to its most recent financial results show how hard it is to satisfy return-hungry stockholders. For these shareholders the only metric that counts is growth rate. For them Twitter needs to grow active users at a significantly
higher rate than the 1.3% growth it reported quarter-on-quarter and 11% year-on-year.

On the advertising revenue side, however, Twitter has grown well in my opinion. New products, lower
cost per engagement and advertiser return on investment has helped the platform grow overall revenue by 58% year-on-year.

I am bullish about Twitter advertising. Here are four reasons why:

EXPRESSO

PREPPING FOR A RUN

BY KIM BROWNE

I don’t like being unprepared. I like to plan everything carefully and arrive early rather than late for meetings. It’s just who I am. I have a white board behind me at the office and client chase lists detailing all work. At home I couldn’t function without a weekly menu board and fridge shopping list in my kitchen, a whiteboard detailing the family’s weekly activities in the scullery and white boards in both of my children’s rooms.

But today I feel totally unprepared for the Soweto half marathon this weekend. You see, I haven’t been running. Pulling out is not an option for me though, as I’ve wanted to do this race for three years. It will definitely not be my finest hour – but I’m going to run/walk/hobble and do it anyway, because I feel I must. The last time I ran a 21.1km was way back in January, so I can’t expect my body to handle it the same as it would if I were running regularly.

Watermelon-carving, a great alternative to pumpkins

Hey Safricans, why don’t we rather carve up watermelons than pumpkins at Halloween time?

First of all, we don’t generally have the orange pumpkin variety used by Americans and secondly, we like doing things differently! (Also, eating the blood-red insides of watermelons is such fun!)
