Why Facebook trumps Twitter

The social media scene in 2016 is shaping up to be very different to the recent past. Apart from Facebook not putting a foot wrong, Snapchat seems poised for significant monetisation, with influential advertising decision makers calling this innovative messaging service the one to watch this year. Many large brands are staking out their own Snapchat real estate to benefit from its popularity.

Instagram is bursting at its seams. The premier visual social media platform has successfully transformed from a non-advertising, filtered photo stream amongst a few dedicated followers into a must-have for the young-of-mind and brands alike. Major launch events, such as the recent SIHH Swiss watch convention, is used by brands to extend their reach on Instagram, especially if their products can look really great on a mobile screen.

Surfing culture as a category has basically moved to Instagram. Since the platform introduced smooth video, you really don’t need to use anything else for your surfing fix. Surf culture brands have followed, producing content that can rival the best fashion magazines in the world.

If ever I needed an extra day – 2016 is a great year to get it! After liking and sharing a minion Facebook post, proclaiming 2016 starts again on 1 February, as January was just a trial month, I’ve decided to own it. Which technically means I’ve lost a month…

There’s been no easing into the New Year. It’s been like the gym in January around here! We’ve been under an incredible amount of pressure to complete a variety of projects at The Toast and our team has been hard at work to ensure we don’t disappoint.

 This does mean that we don’t have capacity right now to take on additional unscheduled project work with fast turn-a-round times. We have to make sure our contract clients and scheduled work are first in line.

 As we speed towards our 5th birthday on 1 April 2016, we count our blessings every day and are truly grateful to our clients for keeping us so busy. Keep the jobs flowing, but in the shortest month of the year try to remember that good work and fast work seldom go together. Just think about fast food. We need time to do our best work.

fatti is a new technology company focusing on the retail market. It can tell you anything and more about customer behaviour in a mall. fatti provides shoppers with free Wi-Fi and access to a valuable mall mobile app, enhancing the shopping experience. The mobile app incorporates a loyalty programme, the ability to pay for parking and many more features. Twisted Toast was recently commissioned to do some quick turn-a-round design work ahead of the launch of the fatti mobile apps for Newtown Junction, The Grove Mall of Namibia, Lynnwood Bridge and Glenfair Boulevard shopping centres.

We’re in awe of all the wonderful work done by the Atterbury Trust in the areas of education, culture and community. Ahead of an important annual fund-raising event in mid-January, Twisted Toast designed a printed brochure, highlighting the important work undertaken by the trust.

Greater Kudu Club

Former Springbok captain Victor Matfield saw the pictures of Dries Visser’s large kudu bull Hercules on social media last year and tweeted “the kudu remains the most beautiful antelope in the bushveld”. The members of Greater Kudu Club agree wholeheartedly and aim to ensure the best kudu breeding stock is made available to game breeders through careful selection and scientific breeding methods.

Greater Kudu Club has selected three exceptional bulls to use in its innovative new breeding programmes. Hercules, Apollo and Mr Universe are the three great bulls entrusted to produce exceptional kudu genetics.

The Toast assists Greater Kudu Club with its marketing.

Manna vir die Boere Konsert 2016

Twisted Toast’s client Atterbury has joined forces with a number of leading companies and musicians to present a music concert in aid of drought relief for farmers in South Africa. Twisted Toast designed the brand identity for this wonderful initiative. Help spread the love in February and support the Manna vir die Boere Konsert on 20 February at the Voortrekker Monument Amphitheatre. DID YOU KNOW?

In the Southern Hemisphere, February is the equivalent of August in the Northern Hemisphere. In a leap year, February starts on the same day as August and it is the only month that ends on the same day that it began. Source
