Hello everyone! There are three great CARTA alumni events going on during the month of August. First, the Interior Architecture Department is hosting a kick-off reception for the 27th annual Festival of the Trees. The event will be held on Tuesday, August 20th at Shula's Grill 347 in Coral Gables. Along with a fabulous raffle, this is a prime opportunity to meet designers, sponsors, and attendees from the last 26 successful Festivals, many of whom are FIU alumni and friends. Second, over in the Theatre Department, eight alumni are gathering to reprise their roles for a special weekend performance of Glengarry Glen Ross,
David Mamet's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, from August 8-10. From 6 to 8 pm on opening night, CARTA is hosting a cocktail event, and all are welcome to attend! Third, DC Alumni Weekend on August 29-31, will allow CARTA alumni to mix and mingle in the heart of the nation's capital. These are wonderful events at which to enjoy a glass of wine, catch up with fellow Panthers, and make new contacts. We hope to see you there!

As any movie or theatre-goer knows, good performances have the power to stay with you. This platitude, while true for the viewer, is perhaps even more true for the performers themselves. In an exciting and unprecedented event, eight highly successful FIU Theatre alumni will reprise their original roles in a special production of Glengarry Glen Ross
. The show will run from August 8th
at 8:00 pm at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center’s Blackbox Theatre at Florida International University’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus, as part of the FIU Theatre’s Alternative Theatre Festival . . . read more
