Devin Cejas, 11' | Landscape Architecture + Environmental and Urban Design

Zoning Administrator Devin Cejas sees Miami a little differently than most: when he gazes over the city, he sees potential, the location and placement of vegetation and curbs, how buildings affect the flow of people in the streets and the efficiency of public transit. With an FIU Masters of Landscape Architecture + Environmental and Urban Design degree, Cejas works to make the city better for millions of residents. To read more, click here

FIU Music alumna praised in El Nuevo Heraldo

After performing a leading role with the Miami Summer Music Festival in July, FIU alumna Sarah Payne, '14 was commended for having a tender, sensual and brilliant voice. Payne has been awarded among the best singers in the region. Last year in January, she was one of three winners at the Metropolitan Opera FL District Auditions. To read El Nuevo Heraldo's story,

CARTA Grad Among MOAD and CINTAS Foundation 2016 - 2017 Visual Arts Finalists

Miami Dade College’s Museum of Art + Design (MOAD), home of the CINTAS Fellows Collection, and the CINTAS Foundation announced this year’s finalists for the annual CINTAS Foundation Fellowship competition in the Visual Arts. 

FIU BFA graduate Carlos Rigau, 04' is one of the CINTAS Fellowship finalists for Visual Arts. He was also a finalist in the same category for 2014-2015.

A video chat with Pulitzer prize-winning political cartoonist Jim Morin

Inspicio sat down with political cartoonist Jim Morin, whose work is distributed by Morintoons Syndicate. Morin also won the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning in 1996 and shared the Pulitzer with other members of the Miami Herald editorial board in 1983. He was a Pulitzer finalist in 1977 and 1990. FIU 30 Annual Festival of the Trees

Each year, the design community supports FIU's Interior Architecture Department (ranked #9 in the nation) at FOT. The trees are conceived and created by leading designers and design firms, and auctioned at the event. Each tree is underwritten by generous sponsors.

Communication instructors mediate police dialogues on campus

Robert Jaross, FIU Communication Instructor and Director of Student Media, and FIU Student Government worked to assemble a discussion #BehindtheBadge, led by Communication Professor Antoine Hardy, between FIU Police and students to open lines of communication. More than 65 students and several FIU Vice Presidents, including Larry Lungsford VP Student Affairs, attended the open discussion on campus policing. To read more, click here.
