Dear KIPP NYC Team and Family,
Since the start of August 2021, each week we’ve been celebrating the first week of school across our region. On Monday, we will welcome back our high school students, which means 7,150 KIPPsters are back in classrooms learning joyfully together. We’ve also had many firsts together as we opened not one, not two, but three new schools together -- KIPP Inquire Elementary, KIPP Affirm Middle, and KIPP Beyond Middle Schools! As health and safety remain our most fundamental priority at KIPP NYC, we wanted to share an exciting opportunity for students and families to get vaccinated at one of our KIPP NYC campuses.
COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics at KIPP NYC buildings for Students and Families
In continued efforts to ensure the safety of our students in a caring space, as you know, we mandated the vaccine for our KIPP NYC staff. While the vaccine is not required for our students, we are excited to share that the Department for Education will be offering the Pfizer-BioTech vaccination to students and families at all DoE Middle School and High School locations.
This means the following school buildings listed below will host vaccination clinics that will be available to all students (12 and older), families, and staff on 9/13, 9/14, 9/15, and 9/17. Sites will not operate on Thursday, 9/16 in observance of Yom Kippur. Walk-ins are welcome and your student does not need to attend one of these schools, in order for you or your family to get the vaccine there!

Students (aged 12 and older) are eligible to get the vaccine and will need to please bring the following signed content form [CLICK HERE]. Parents are encouraged to accompany their child but it is not required. No appointment is needed! A full list of all vaccination sites across NYC is listed here.
Student Vaccine Data Collection
We are also going to begin collecting student vaccination data for our Middle and High School students. This is optional, with the exception of our student athletes who do need to show proof of vaccination to play sports in accordance with PSAL and citywide policy. This information will be kept confidential, and we will only use vaccination status when contact tracing. For example, if there is a positive case in your child’s class, and your vaccinated child is not showing symptoms, they will likely not need to quarantine and can stay in school. More to come on how to submit your child’s vaccine information.
Proof of Vaccination Needed to Enter KIPP NYC Schools
The Department for Education (DoE) announced today that all visitors entering DoE buildings will need to show proof of vaccination starting Monday 9/13. Please be aware that you will also be asked to show proof when entering all KIPP NYC schools. We thank you again for your support in following our protocols to keep our students and community safe.
As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us or your child’s principal with any additional questions.
Warmly,
Alicia Johnson, President
Jim Manly, Superintendent
