Newsflash: Two bad Apple updates in short order. Yikes.

Warning: Mac OS X 10.7.3 Lion update

Early reports were positive; now not so much. I'm now hearing multiple reports of the Mac OS X 10.7.3 update available through Software Update rendering all applications unlaunchable. All applications will immediately crash when launched. Strongly advise that anyone using a Mac running 10.7 Lion remain on 10.7.2 until further notice. If you've already updated and encountered this problem—many users are seeing no issues at all so you might get lucky—there is a convoluted workaround that can get your Mac working again until Apple issues a fix. Call me at 503-507-0410 to schedule an appointment.

Mac OS X 10.6.8 negatively impacts Rosetta apps

Snow Leopard update makes it impossible for Rosetta apps to save. This software security update available through the Software Update process apparently disables Save for all Rosetta applications. Examples of Rosetta-based applications include Microsoft Office 2004, AppleWorks, and Quicken 2007. Strongly advise that anyone using a Mac running 10.6.8 Snow Leopard does NOT install this security update (which was released today). At present there is no workaround, but Apple is reportedly working as fast as they can to solve this problem.
