It’s a hot and sticky August morning, but that won’t stop a group of microbiologists on a quest. They’re looking for some very specific soil in the Santa Catalina Mountains, amid cactus, tarantulas and rattlesnakes. And the monsoon moisture they’d been waiting for has arrived.
