Gabrielle Moore-Pratt will be on site at CVAG Friday from 11am to 4pm to print ROOT LOVE t-shirts and other garments

Drop by the Comox Valley Art Gallery on Friday to celebrate Valentine's Day.

We'll have live screen printing run by Gabrielle Moore-Pratt from 11am to 4pm, we'll be serving up treats and refreshments, you can make your own Valentine's cards, there will be all-ages make art stations, and there will be discounts at SHOP:MADE all day long (10 per cent off all items in our shop / 15% off for CVAG members).

For the screen-printing, you have a few options:

  • bring your own t-shirt or other cotton clothing and get it printed for $5
  • purchase an existing hand-printed CVAG ROOT LOVE t-shirt for $25
  • purchase hand-printed ROOT LOVE pillows for $25
  • purchase slow-stitch patches at 3 for $5
  • make your own ROOT LOVE art card for free.

While you're at the Gallery check out our IN THE WATER convergent program, which features KC Adams' exhibition BIRCHBARK TECHNOLOGY, and the community incubators WATER (re)SOURCE and ROOT LOVE.

WATER (re)SOURCE features projects by students at Queneesh Elementary (Drawing Water) and Beachcomber Academy (Water Cycles), and collections of artist contributions and community collaborations (A Repository for Water). ROOT LOVE offers opportunities to share knowledge rooted in making, growing and collaboration. Non–invasive plant cuttings can be brought to the gallery for rooting in water in the living wall installation in the CVAG window gallery. In exchange, rooted plants can be taken home.

The IN THE WATER convergent program runs until Feb. 29. The Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. Admission is free; donations are gratefully accepted.

Saturday, Feb. 22, 12:30 to 2pm
Hosts: Comox Valley Art Gallery and Connected By Water

Community Facilitator – Meaghan Cursons

Join Connected by Water’s project team in the CVAG GATHER:SPACE to explore the Comox Lake watershed through maps, history, ecology, climate change, human use and more. This family friendly (suggested 8+) presentation explores the source of our drinking water in the Comox Valley through photos and stories and uncovers how each of us is truly connected by water. Then we pull out the art supplies and draw the watershed, waterways and places where we connect to water in the Comox Valley.

This community engagement event is a partnership between CVAG’s “In The Water” convergent program and the Comox Valley Regional District’s "Connected by Water" project which aims to build connection, capacity and community in support of watershed protection and water conservation in the Comox Valley.
