I’m back and I’m ready for Serve Sunday
And I hope that you’re as excited as I am!

Hey Rainier View!

I’m back from sabbatical and getting settled into life during September at RVCC. Maybe you are as well? As I’ve come back, I noticed some changes to Serve Sunday that our creative and innovative staff have made for 2022. If you’ve missed those changes in the busyness of school starting, let me help clarify!

We’re having a short service before heading out to serve our schools. Join us at 9:00am at Parkland or Graham for a devotional message, communion, worship and a snack!

You had me at “snack.” In addition to our regular coffee bar, we would like to have muffins, donuts and juice. We don’t have the budget to provide all the food, so we’re asking if many of you would show up with finger pastries and/or a container of juice to share. If landscaping is not something you can do, perhaps helping provide a ‘continental breakfast’ is your way to serve on this day.

Invite a friend! We are emphasizing the fact that lots of your friends will say “yes” to joining you for a community project like Serve Sunday long before they’ll say yes to attending a church service. Let’s lean into that! Please bring someone with you to work alongside you on the 25th.

There’s a kids’ scavenger hunt with prizes! This will make Serve Sunday even more family-friendly and who doesn’t love a prize?

Please register for Serve Sunday because it really helps us plan well. Don’t forget to eat something before you come, because a muffin and a cup of juice aren’t exactly going to fuel you for the rest of the morning. And come early (snacks available around 8:45am) to chat, grab coffee, and be ready to start our service right at 9:00am.

I’m looking forward to seeing you and serving our community next Sunday, the 25th!

Rusty Carlson, Lead Executive Pastor
