Occasionally we highlight one of the volunteers who make a difference at RVCC to share the huge variety of ways there are to serve. There really is a place for everyone! We also want our volunteers to know that we see you and appreciate you. We could not do all that we do and make a church the size of RVCC function without you!
Deb with Cassandra Moreno, Ericka Anderson, and Jeff Jamba
Deb Howard has served in many capacities through her years at RVCC Graham. Most recently she jumped in to coordinate food for the church potluck in May at RVCC as well as coordinating snacks for VBS (because snacks keep everyone happy!). She made sure that each family was greeted warmly and checked into VBS each morning and she continues to schedule the greeting team for Sunday mornings.
Deb is recently retired, and we asked her to share why one of the first things she started doing with more of that free time is to serve at the church. Here’s a bit of what she shared with our team at Graham as we were wrapping up VBS, “I wanted to start serving more in my retirement because it’s really an opportunity to give back. Serving is something that fills my heart and really is so rewarding. It’s a way to say thanks to God for giving so much to me, including allowing me to retire on time (and even a bit ahead of schedule!). And lastly, it’s just fun!”
Thank You Deb for Choosing to Make a Difference!
We are so grateful for the example that so many around RVCC set for us all. Have you thought about how to use the season you are in? Whether you are a teenager or young adult, have teenagers of your own at home, are single or married, or are trying to figure out how you will use your retirement years, there are ways for all of us to make a difference. Don’t wait or delay. Jump in like Deb! Find a need to meet, and start making a difference. Because it makes all the difference both for you and others!
