March Update

As we head into Spring, MediWales is thrilled to announce that we have joined the United Life Sciences partnership.

United Life Sciences is comprised of five leading life science membership organisations, the BioIndustry Association (BIA), Bionow, BioPartner, One Nucleus (ON) and MediWales, creating a strategic partnership representing over 1,100 life science and healthcare members across the UK and internationally.

Our new partnership with United Life Sciences provides UK Lifescience Industry magazine, produced in collaboration with Medilink UK, with a whole new breadth of readership and opportunities. We are collecting our final few stories for articles and the deadline for editorial is Friday 20th March. We have advertising space available - the deadline for advertising is Friday 31st MarchClick here for the media pack. Contact Lucinda for more information.

MediWales has just launched our brand new website, and we would love for you all to take a look. We've added logos to our online member directory. If yours is not there, please send a hi-res image to Tess and your profile will be updated. Our finance & funding page has new features to make it practical and easy to use, and we've made our events calendar more clear and easy to navigate.

New MediWales Director: John Roberts

John Keith Roberts has more than 30 years UK and international experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a range of commercial and general management roles. John held senior positions in a number of organisations including Wellcome PLC in the UK and South East Asia and UCB Pharma as Regional General Manager Asia and General Manager UK before joining Penn Pharma, a PCI company and a leading Wales-based provider of outsourced pharmaceutical development and manufacturing services to the global healthcare industry, in 2005. In August 2014, Penn Pharma, became a wholly owned subsidiary of PCI, the global leader for drug development services, supporting its customers in each stage of the development and commercialisation of drug products. 

Council for European Bioregions (CEBR): European Cluster Medical Device Programme

We'd like to invite MediWales members who are medical devices and diagnostics SMEs to join CEBR’s European Cluster Medical Device Programme, a Europe-wide online directory and community. Clusters and SMEs can be part of the following platform:
  • Online directory with SME profiles, browsable and searchable
  • 6 monthly SME hotlist publication
  • Directory and hotlist promotion to international partners and investors
The directory will be launched at BIO in Philadelphia in June and the first hotlist will be published at Medica in November. 

Targets for the directory and hotlist include:
  • large company partners for development and commercialisation into new markets
  • investors for direct company development
  • end users such as health service providers
  • SMEs for technology convergence and novel product development
