Members of the month

Momentum Bioscience

Momentum Bioscience develops and markets diagnostic tests focusing on rapid results for high-urgency clinical specimens. Their first product, Cognitor Minus, identifies negative blood culture specimens 4 days earlier than current methods with a 99.5% negative predictive value.  Early detection of negative cultures allows the possibility of early cessation of antibiotics. Up to 90% blood cultures are negative but patients may be on antibiotics they don’t need, costing approximately £50 per day. Cognitor Minus is the first in a series of tests for better management of patients with suspected infections that will provide better patient care, lower overall costs and reduced pressure on antimicrobial resistance.
