July update

It is summer at last, but our community faces a range of critical issues following the EU Referendum result. MediWales is working with our United Life Sciences partners: BIA, BioPartner UK, Bionow and One Nucleus, to represent members and act as a source of support and advice during these times of uncertainty. We are collecting comments about how the UK's decision to leave the EU is affecting your organisation. Please contact Tess to share your experience.

Despite the challenges that currently face the life science sector, our community is stronger than ever. The first MediWales Connects: NHS Collaboration Conference was a huge success, drawing a delegation of 300 delegates with more than 30 exhibitors and NHS staff from each of the health boards and trusts in Wales.

Looking ahead, we are focusing on our Autumn programme, which includes collaborative events, LifeScience Academy workshops, student placement networking, a members' showcase, UK HealthTech on 6th December and our Innovation Awards on 13th December. Watch out for a packed schedule of events, which will be released shortly.

What does Brexit mean for our community?

The UK has voted to leave the European Union (EU). Although this decision has caused political and economic uncertainty for the country, it also presents a new political context with opportunities for a re-energised vision for the UK life sciences sector.

Whether your organisation relies on EU funding for research, you meet EU standards and regulations, you sell products under EU procurement rules, or you use the EU free trade zone, things are going to change.

MediWales will support discussion and provide a voice for our members during these times of change. Business should continue as usual for the immediate future, and our advice to our community is to remain resilient, innovative, and ready to embrace new opportunities.

Take a look at the following advice and updates from key experts within the sector:
