What will GOW 2016 be like this year?
With the commitment of at least 27 campaign partners Telecentre Europe will be getting Europeans online and on jobs again. Digital empowerment campaign European GOW will mark its seventh edition this year on 14-20 March. Digital skills acquired through non-formal education boost youth employability
This Telecentre Europe’s position paper addresses two pressing issues: the high levels of youth unemployment and the low digital readiness of young people for the labour market. TE suggests that non-formal training providers (such as telecentres) have a key role in offering young people a range of alternative and flexible learning paths to acquire up-to-date digital skills. Towards a network of National and Local Coalitions for Digital Jobs
Last month European Commission organised a workshop to bring together existing National and Local Coalitions and initiatives that are under formation. The purpose of the workshop was to take stock of the progress so far and reflect upon a joint road-map for strengthening and networking among the partners. 75% of Spanish FIT4Jobs trainees found employment
 The Spanish FIT4Jobs pilot trained 40 young people in digital skills, teaching them the basics of Java programming, database management and soft skills for job search and teamwork. After the programme ended, 30 out of 40 trainees signed a contract with the project’s main employer in Spain, the multinational EVERIS. READ MORE

Third annual gathering of Unite-IT community in Belgrade
 A 3-year-long EU project on digital inclusion Unite-IT has come to an end. Yet it has built an online community of 740+ professionals who are devoted to the topic and want to learn more. Safer Internet Day 2016 campaign starts in Czech Republic
 The Czech Safer Internet Centre (NCBI) starts the national Safer Internet Day (SID) 2016 campaign on February 9. The campaign under auspices of Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of Interior will involve schools and public libraries in a competition to facilitate and promote their events. This year a creative iSejf (www.isejf.cz) competition for children is organized to transform W. Shakespeare's work into the online world and to 'Play your part for a better internet!' The Online4EDU blended-learning course for teachers has started
 Last month more than 120 teachers from 4 countries entered the e-learning platform of the course “Online Collaboration Tools for Teachers” and met in national face-to-face training. In Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Germany project participants learnt about the course, technical aspects of the platform and how to prepare for the ECDL examination.
