Telecentre-Europe Summit 2012
REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN
Under the title
"Jobs for youth and ageing online", the
fifth Telecentre-Europe Summit will take place in Warsaw, Poland during
17-18 October 2012 and will bring together an invited audience of 100 telecentre network leaders from across Europe, along with stakeholders and supporters.
The main themes of the event will focus on how telecentres impact youth and older people, by providing the right eSkills, by the use of social media and by encouraging social innovation, towards better jobs and an improved quality of life.

BOARD & STAFF MEETING IN BRUSSELS
During 19-20 June, Telecentre-Europe’s board & staff members came together at the organization headquarters in Brussels for an intensive 2 day face-to-face meeting with lots of topics on the agenda: welcoming & introducing the new staff members, redefining roles of staff & board members, branding, finances, rethinking the member strategy, communications, ongoing projects, the upcoming summit, etc…

TELECENTRE-EUROPE AT THE DIGITAL AGENDA ASSEMBLY
Telecentre-Europe’s Chair Ian Clifford & Managing Director Gabriel Rissola
participated at the Digital Agenda Assembly that took place in Brussels on 21-22 June. Both representatives were part of the panel that addressed questions related to the barriers & benefits of social media to deliver more effective and efficient public services that would impact jobs and growth.
Also board member Juan Francisco Delgado was a participant of the Assembly, advocating for the Spanish proposal to create a
European Market Place for Social Innovators.

LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM WINS E-INCLUSION AWARD
The
Information Society Development Foundation (FRSI) wins the
“Be Part of IT – Digital Inclusion Champions Award”, one of the Awards that could be won at the European Commission’s
e-Inclusion Awards Competition 2012.
The winning
video entry of FRSI’s
Library Development Program presents the impact of libraries on the daily life of citizens and shows how libraries participating in the program contribute to the development of whole local communities.

TE & TCF AT TELECENTRE MANAGERS CONGRESS IN SPAIN
Telecentre.org Foundation (TCF) and Gabriel Rissola, Managing Director of Telecentre-Europe AISBL (TE) participated at the
1st International Congress for Telecentre Managers that took place during June 28-29 in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country, Spain).
Miguel Raimilla presented “From Internet Access to Centers of Innovation” and introduced the audience to models and options for sustainability leading to the re-invention of telecentres. Gabriel Rissola took part in the session “Analysis of our evolution, path taken and future”.

OVER 70% TRAINED BY INTERFACE3 & FIT FIND JOB
The
VET (Vocational Education & Training) programs led by Telecentre-Europe’s members
Fast Track to IT (FIT, Ireland) and
Interface3 (Belgium) are good examples that show how many long-term unemployed people can succeed in high skills training programmes and find a quality job related to technology.
Both organizations closely engage the industry and work at the interface between skills demand from employers and public training provision. This “skills ecosystem analysis” is more important than ever, with ICT now effectively a global marketplace and ICT skills shortages growing in most countries.

AWARDS FOR BEST VIDEO, PHOTO & STORY OF THE GET ONLINE WEEK
On June 13th and July 2nd & 6th, the Award Ceremonies took place for the winning telecentres of the “Hai pe net” contest, the Romanian version of TE’s Get Online Week campaign.
The three winners are the Theoretical High School of Teius (Alba County)for the best video, the Milosesti Public Library (LaLomita County) for the best photo and the Medias Public Library (Sibiu County)for the most relevant success story.
