Recently I stepped on a piece of glass barely bigger than a grain of sand. Because it was so small and was embedded in my heel, I couldn't easily remove it. And to make matters worse, I have a low tolerance for pain. Every time I put weight on my foot, an electric pain shot up my leg. This rendered me unable to walk properly and required my attention. With creative problem solving skills, I was able to get the glass out without enduring too much discomfort.
I came away from that experience with the thought that little things can create havoc in our lives if they are not addressed in a timely manner. When there is something that needs our attention, our inner nudges often start out quietly. When the issue at hand is still small, it's an ideal time to address it. Small quiet nudges, however, are easy to ignore. When we ignore our nudges, over time they build up. Now, something that started out small is a big deal.
The glass in my foot is a good metaphor for dealing with issues in life. Had I not mustered up the courage to endure some pain and deal with the situation at hand, I may have ended up with a costly infection.
It isn't the mountain ahead that wears you out; it's the grain of sand in your shoe. --Robert Service
Feng Shui Tips
The pokes and nudges that aren't addressed lead to stagnant energy. In the home they may look like things that are broken, things you don't use, chores, etc. Attend to the areas of your home that need your attention.
