                  April’s Show
       “Crossing Boundaries”
      Line, Shape and Edges

               Features Artists
  Linda King and Nancy Virbila

Art has been carving new frontiers since the first line was etched onto stone. And “Crossing Boundaries,” the new show at the Artists’ Cooperative Gallery of Westerly, explores how artists do this with line, shape, and edges. Come meet the artists at the show’s Opening
Reception, Friday April 5th from 5-8 PM.

Both award-winning featured artists cross media boundaries.

Inspired by nature’s movement and drama, Linda King enjoys acrylic’s transparency on paper, treats it like oils on canvas, and experiments with collaged textural elements to create dimension and interest in her paintings.

Inspired by nature as well as music, Nancy Virbila’s lyrical, highly textured collages incorporate hand-made papers, paint, inks, watercolors, pastels and pieces of actual sheet music.

Ledyard High School Chapter of the National Art Honor Society Show
in the United in Art Community Gallery
Opening Reception April 5, 5-8 PM

Part of the Gallery's mission  is to celebrate the arts within the community.  Since our move to our new location, the space formerly known as the Back Room Art Gallery has been re-named the United in Art Community Gallery. In April, the works of members of the Ledyard High School chapter of the National Art Honor Society will be featured.  The Society is open to students in grades 11-12 and also includes two “interns” in grade 9. The show will be curated by art club advisors Kathleen Flanagan and Marin Marciano.

Work submitted for jurying will be accepted on April 28 and 29. The Opening Reception for the show is Friday May 3rd, 5-8 PM, with awards announced at 7PM.
