SPECIAL TOURNAMENT UPDATE FOR PARTICIPANTS
Summary of Changes for 2020
I’ve been working with fishing tournaments for 30 years. I’ve seen hurricanes, oil spills, stolen supplies, flying margarita glasses, exploding boats and gunshot wounds. I even had to deal with an iguana one year that kept knocking out the internet connection. This is my first pandemic. I’m not completely making this up as I go, but it feels like it.
So, thank you all so much for signing up. Weird times for sure, but we’ll do the best we can to see you have a good time. We have 68 teams registered so far.
We’re working with a skeleton crew this year. Jason Draughn is spearheading the event preparations at Sandestin. Dick Flanery and Greg Crawford are managing the marina. I’ll be your contact for registration and any other things you may have a question about. I’m working on a FAQS for the website and I’ve listed the major changes for this year below.
Text and email are the best ways to contact me. I’ll be using group texts and newsletters like this one to keep you guys in the loop.
We won’t be enforcing strict social distancing, or the wearing of face masks, although we ask that you do both.
I will be masked up and staying socially distant – hugs and handshakes will have to wait until next year.
If any of you feel uncomfortable about attending the events, let me know and we’ll work something out.
DOCKAGE
If your dates of stay at Baytowne Marina ARE NOT Tuesday the 16th through Sunday the 21st please call the dockmaster at 850-267-7773 to confirm your dates.
As usual, final slip assignments are not made until right before the tournament.
RULES
There are no changes to the rules this year other than scheduling and event location changes, a new mailing address for checks and requiring the entry fee to be paid in full at time of registration.
For those of you staying in Destin Harbor, if you can’t make it to the marina for events let me know. You will need to make arrangements to pick up your team envelope, swag and video verification wristbands.
Registration, Jackpot Entry and the Captain’s Meeting will all take place at the Baytowne Marina. Jason has arranged for a big RV to be down there so that will be our headquarters. We’ll use it for video verification also.
It’s possible we’ll do the Captain’s meeting using video conferencing. That decision will be made closer to the tournament.
We’ll do the awards at the scales right after the Saturday weigh-in.
We’ll be controlling access to the RV for both registration and jackpot entry, so please send only 1-2 people.
There will be a jackpot entry form in your boat packet at Baytowne Marina. It will help if you can have it filled in ahead of time and bring it with you to the RV. You can also enter jackpots online at https://www.fishecbc.com/jackpots/ or download the form and email it to me. https://fishecbc.com/pdf/ecbc-jackpots.pdf
PAYMENT
If you still need to pay your entry fee ($6,420) and want to send a check, please get it in the mail by Friday June 5th, otherwise just bring it with you to registration. If you’re not sure what you owe (especially if you rolled a deposit from last year) send me a text.
Make checks payable to SANDESTIN INVESTMENTS, LLC and mail to ECBC, PO Box 6128, Miramar Beach, FL 32550.
The time has come. We will start charging a 2.5% convenience fee on credit card transactions, including jackpots.
We’ll have someone (pretty sure it will be Anita) start calling to get payment information if you want to pay by credit card. You can also call me at 910-264-3947.
GOLF SCRAMBLE
I just got the news that there are changes to the Scramble and how you sign up for it. I’ll get the changes up on the website today or tomorrow.
That's it for now. If you're fishing Biloxi, good luck and safe return!
