crusaders and masked villans alike take the Mile High City by storm for the innagural Denver Comic Con at the Colorado Convention Center. The three-day event will feature top-shelf celebrity and comic book guests, a rare Jedi Fighting Master Class with a legendary light sabre wielding guru, Sci-Fi Speed Dating with the cast and crew of TLC's hit show Geek Love and will launch the first ever Denver Comic Con Ale (to be named) developed with Breckenridge Brewery. With all of the proceeds benefitting Children's literacy in select Colorado Schools, the Denver Comic Con is the event of the summer for comic nerds, sci-fi fanatics and nerd-curious families all over the Colorado front range.

Denver Comic Con will kick off on Father’s Day weekend at the Colorado Convention Center with a cast of talent that reads like the who’s who of Hollywood Heroes, Sci Fi, and Animation. The 2012 fundrasing event just announced additional guest talent including sci-fi favorites Wil Wheaton (Star Trek, Big Bang Theory, The Guild) and Nick Gallard (stunt coordinator for the Star Wars movies) along with Matt Kindt, Joseph Michael Linsner, and Ben Templesmith to their growing weekend line-up.
Widely known as Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation and from the classic movie, Stand By Me, Wil Wheaton is the latest guest added to the impressive Denver Comic Con line up. An accomplished actor, writer, tweeter, and blogger, Wil has developed a mind blowing cult following. He can be seen in his recurring role on the smash hit comedy series, The Big Bang Theory and Felicia Day’s gaming-centric web series, The Guild.
JEDI MASTER FIGHTING CLASS
For those seeking the way of the Force, famous stunt coordinator and legendary light sabre wielding guru Nick Gallard is scheduled for an exclusive Jedi Fighting Master Class. Gallard is known as the swordmaster behind the thrilling choreography and stage combat of the Jedi for the original Star Wars films as well as the training of Jedi Knights - Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Ray Park and Christopher Lee. Gallard will be offering a rare opportunity to learn Jedi training on-site as part of the myriad of events offered at the inaugural Comic Con. The master classes will be limited to a small number of students; registration and additional details will be announced on Denver Comic Con’s website in the coming weeks.
The event has already announced an impressive roster of top shelf talent including Kristin Bauer (True Blood), Michael Uslan (Exec. Producer – The Dark Knight Rises, The Dark Knight, Batman Begins), Billy West (Futurama, Ren & Stimpy, Looney Tunes), Tom Kane (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Wolverine and the X-Men, The Powerpuff Girls), Jasika Nicole (FRINGE, She’s Out of My League, Take the Lead), Mark Ryan (Transformers), Steven T Seagle (Ben 10, Generator Rex, Ultimate Spider-Man), and Greg Weisman (Gargoyles, The Spectacular Spider-Man, Young Justice). The Rocky Mountain Conference on Comics and Graphic Novels serves as the literary conference component of Denver Comic Con and will take place from June13-15, 2012. RMCGG is devoted solely to the scholarly study and teaching of the sequential arts, and is currently accepting proposals from nearly any field of study and across the disciplines, such as art, theory, history, and pedagogy. Comic Book Classroom is a nonprofit organization that educates through alternative approaches to literacy, learning, and character development. CBC creates programs for underserved students, schools, and communities via comic books, graphic novels, and related media. Since September 2011, the locally based program has gradually built an impressive roster of talent for their largest fundraiser to date – Denver Comic Con.
Set to take place at the Colorado Convention Center in trendy downtown Denver, the benefit boasts a high caliber celebrity lineup coupled with education and literary opportunities spanning the five days surrounding Father’s Day weekend. In just a few short months, CBC has amassed over 275 local volunteers for the pop culture conference, highlighting the best and brightest artists of Denver and from around the world, with an array of programming opportunities, colorful exhibitions, and the recent addition of Tokyo Japan’s own Manga University (Manga Publisher and educator). Denver Comic Con also boasts visually appealing appearances from the cosplay community (elaborately costumed capers), video gaming competitions, workshops, autograph signings, and special programming, all culminating in a fan-centric awards ceremony on the last day of the con. All of the proceeds raised from the Denver Comic Con will benefit the CBC, which is currently active in 8 Colorado area schools.
