November Update

Greetings from Slovakia!  In this e-newsletter we’ll share some updates on happenings of the last month – the CHE training and our ongoing ministry activities.  But first, more information about a mission trip coming spring when we hope YOU can join us.

MissionConnect - May 27 to June 5, 2017

We’ve put together a video to tell you more about the MissionConnect trip this coming spring (May 27 to June 5).  We’ve designed MissionConnect as a chance for anyone to come experience what God’s doing here in Slovakia – you don’t have to bring a team with you, simply come by yourself, or with your spouse or a friend.  You’ll join others for a week to learn about yourself and new cultures, to see what God is doing here, and to serve alongside newfound brothers and sisters in Christ.  One specific goal we need your help with is preparing and leading fun children’s festivals for International Children’s Day (June 1).

The video (click the image to the right) will explain more – please watch it, then share it with others you think might be interested in joining us.  If you’re interested or want to know more, please contact us as soon as possible!

Please pray with us that God would bring participants to this experience next spring!

CHE Training Weekends

We are so grateful for so many of you who joined us in prayer this past month for the Community Health Evangelism (CHE) training we organized over two weekends.  Twelve participants from this region joined us, along with four different trainers from Hungary and Serbia, where CHE work is already in progress.  This training was an introduction to the main ideas of the CHE strategy and how it might be adapted here in Slovakia.

We believe God wants to use CHE here to heal and reach communities with the Good News about Jesus Christ.  Our belief was confirmed, as we and the trainers and participants experienced spiritual warfare around these training events that we’ve not encountered before.  Even in the midst of these times, we knew that many of you were praying with us and we felt confident that God was working in ways we could not see.

Again, we’re thankful for your prayers, and for the contributions some of you sent to help make this training possible.  The meetings were encouraging to us and, we believe, to others who trained and participated.

Please pray with us as we have more meetings and conversations in the weeks ahead, as we discover together with our local partners how God might use CHE to grow his kingdom in Slovakia.

Please consider making a contribution toward this movement in Slovakia to help cover the costs of this training and future events.  You can give toward this project at this link.

ClassroomConnect Project and English Classes

This fall we’ve restarted our English classes – we have eight different groups this fall – and we thank God for some new opportunities to share spiritual truths while we’re teaching!

Alongside these English classes we’ve restarted a project that we tried out last spring.  We began with the title Adopt-a-Class, but we decided our goal was not adoption but rather connection.  The project is designed to connect our English students here with people in the U.S. who can help teach and encourage them.  So we redesigned the project for this year, and named it ClassroomConnect.

Six groups from the U.S. are participating in the ClassroomConnect project from Virginia and Alabama.  Throughout the year they will be trading videos, letters and other communications with our English classes.  We believe God can use these connections to help our students not only learn English, but to also learn more about how God loves them, and that someone around the world cares for them!

We’re thankful for our partners who are joining in this project.  Please join us in prayer, that through these connections our students would find encouragement and love.
