Activate Sundays in the Market District

Recent work in the Market District by the ACC has identified there would be benefits in greater activity occurring in the area on Sundays. Council is now seeking innovative proposals for regular activation of Sundays in the Market District. Expressions of Interest are open until 2pm 29 March 2016.
Council is looking for concepts that are unique, dynamic, fun and not necessarily limited to markets. (The Market District extendes through to Whitmore Square and Sturt Street). Activations can be run by people from the private sector, including business operators or in partnership with a community service or not for profit organisation. More information can be found here

New Open-Access Music Festival
this Winter

Umbrella: Winter City Sounds is a new live music festival presented by Music SA, with support from the Adelaide City Council and Guitars In Bars. The inaugural Umbrella will be held from July 15 to August 7 and offer an smorgasbord of curated live music projects and performances across the Adelaide CBD to warm and illuminate the colder weeks. It is an open access festival in the same mould as the Fringe, so you just need to register your event to be part of it! For more info, click here.

Next Open Meeting Wed April 6

City South's next Open Committee Meeting will be held at the Crown & Sceptre Hotel (upstairs) on Wednesday April 6 6.15pm for 6.30pm start. Our guest speaker for this one will be Stuart Boyd from the Adelaide City Council to discuss their newly released Strategic Plan 2016-2020. If you are wishing to attend, please email coordinator@citysouth.org.au to RSVP.

Hospitality Updates

Sturt Street wine bar Cantina Sociale (pictured above) has a new owner The Pinara Group, and have announced big plans to expand the concept into every Capital City around Australia. We wish them luck! ... Great to see some pubs in City South undergoing facelifts: The Saracen's Head on Carrington St (pictured below) have done a lot of work on their front bar area and it's looking great! ... The Rob Roy Hotel on Halifax St has also had a lick of paint, but on the outside this time. They've also added new plants and furniture to their large street-front garden. Great work guys!

The City South Precinct is bordered by West Tce, South Tce, Pulteney St and Gouger/Angas Streets.
