Engaging Youth, Engaging Neighborhood participants share their creative expressions on neighborhoods and themselves on Wednesday, April 18

Over the past several weeks, local youth have gotten creative about changing South Bend for the better. Join us as participants in Neighborhood Resources Connection's 2018 Engaging Youth, Engaging Neighborhoods program share their perspectives on their neighborhoods -- and themselves -- through photography, poetry, and other artistic expressions. Free. Public welcome.

The 2018 Neighborhood Leadership Academy is already filling up - round up a few neighbors and apply ASAP

The Neighborhood Leadership Academy is a free, seven-session program developed specifically for leaders, members, and organizers of associations that seek to be the voice of their neighborhoods. 

The 2018 Academy will help you grow your organization and connect with your neighbors by focusing on what really matters to them. The Academy is perfect for current leaders, as well as members who don’t hold leadership positions yet -- but might like to.  

Sessions begin May 3. Round up a few neighbors and apply by April 16Learn more.

City to host visioning workshop for northwest neighborhood center

The City of South Bend and consultant Opticos Design, Inc. will lead a series of community workshops to develop a vision for the Portage & Elwood Neighborhood Center, starting with a presentation and workshop on April 17 at 5:30 p.m..  Neighbors and community members are invited to learn about the visioning process and provide input to help create the vision for the area.

S.O.S. - Save Our Streets, Saturday, April 14

Trapsauxxxce Streetwear Co. in partnership with Fremont Park Youth Foundation and Nu Black Power Movement of South Bend will be hosting a S.O.S., Save Our Streets all day event consisting of a youth workshop, benefit concert and rally and a night party for a purpose. This day will feature youth activists, community leaders, rappers, promoters, businesses & political figures coming together for a greater purpose - to save our streets.

Youth Workshop: 12-3 p.m. at 218 Sycamore
Rally and Benefit Concert: 5-8 p.m. at John Hunt Plaza (in front of Morris PAC)
Afterparty: 8 p.m.--? at Arabesk Palace

April is Tango Mango Wheat Month at South Bend Brew Werks

Specially brewed for NRC by South Bend Brew Werks, we're happy to report that Tango Mango Wheat has been the best-selling #Beer4Good beer of the month to date. Even the Michiana Beer Reviewers gave it an 8.8/10 rating!

In April, a portion of the proceeds from every Tango Mango Wheat sold will support South Bend neighborhoods through the work of the Neighborhood Resources Connection. Tango Mango Wheat will be on tap at South Bend Brew Werks through April (or until it sells out!) and will also be the featured brew at Tapas & Tango on April 28. 

April 30 is sewer survey deadline

The City of South Bend’s Department of Public Works is conducting a sewer survey and is seeking information from residents. Homeowners who experienced flooding this past February are invited to complete the survey here by Monday, April 30.
