NRC visits Near West Side, shares Neighborhood Survey project
NRC was invited by the Near West Side Neighborhood Organization to share how an organization can use a Neighborhood Survey to build its membership and align its activities with what neighbors want for their neighborhood. One example of this sort of project is currently underway in Kennedy Park. If you’d like to look into a similar Neighborhood Survey project in your neighborhood, contact NRC. Read more or see video of presentation.
Near Northwest: 2018 Arts Cafe Sunday, Sept. 30
NRC is a proud supporter of this year's NNN Arts Cafe 2018. Arts Cafe is a celebration of arts, crafts, music, food, homes and neighbors. It's a neighborhood block party at the intersection of Portage and California, but so much more. Look forward to shopping, eating, hay rides, home tours, a costume contest, a Kids Zone, music, merriment and neighbors -- and look for NRC’s Block Party Toolkit yard games, too! Facebook event
City of South Bend Updates:
Tracy Skibins named Director of Code Enforcement
City launches West Side Small Business Resource Center
NRC congratulates and welcomes Tracy Skibins to her new (well, newly-official) role as Director of Code Enforcement. In her previous roles as Deputy Director and also Interim Director since August, we’ve seen her and her team in action around neighborhoods (like Monroe Park’s cleanup, see video at 00:10
). We know the Code Enforcement team addresses a lot of the issues we hear about from neighborhood leaders, and we’re excited about Tracy’s continued energy and commitment to South Bend neighborhoods. Thank you, Tracy! Read full announcement
, or learn more about how Code Enforcement serves your neighborhood
Incubators are important for organizational success, and NRC is excited to see the West Side Small Business Resource Center open for 'business, not as usual' in the words of Hardie Blake Jr. at last week's ribbon cutting. NRC is looking forward to seeing the impact that these resources will have for local entrepreneurs. South Bend Tribune Story
