2018 Advanced Neighborhood Leadership Academy begins May 3

The Neighborhood Leadership Academy is a free, seven-session program developed specifically for leaders, members, and organizers of associations that seek to be the voice of their neighborhoods. 

The 2018 Academy will help you grow your organization and connect with your neighbors by focusing on what really matters to them. The Academy is perfect for current leaders, as well as members who don’t hold leadership positions yet -- but might like to.

Continuing the conversation from the last West Side housing forum, Indivisible District 2 has assembled a panel of city officials including Mayor Pete and representatives from the Office of Community Investment to discuss housing policy and some of the problems currently facing homeowners and communities on the West Side.

Kennedy Park on the move

The Kennedy Park Neighborhood Association recently affirmed new officers and bylaws and is working to increase membership and activity in the neighborhood. The organization is also developing a community space on Linden Street. If you’d like to have a role in shaping the future of Kennedy Park, now is the time to get involved! Wanted: West side volunteer gardeners

What are you up to in April at 1:00 pm on Thursdays or Saturdays? That's when our friends at Kankakee Wetlands Organic Gardens will be heading out to one of their six organic gardens on the west side of town, where a third of the harvest is donated to neighborhood food pantries or charities, and a third is distributed among the all-volunteer membership. Join them to learn organic gardening techniques and support neighbors in need. Learn more at

City yard waste program begins April 2

Amnesty Period Offered for Month of April

The City of South Bend’s annual Yard Waste season begins Monday, April 2 and will run through Friday, November 30. The Division of Solid Waste will also offer an amnesty period for the month of April. During the amnesty period, all yard waste extra pick-ups will be free for residents, whether or not they participate in the yard waste program. More information
