Finding the Way: Building a Stronger Path Between
LBS and Manufacturing

Over the past 9 months Literacy Link South Central has been working on a Labour Market Partnership project focused on the soft skills required in the manufacturing sector. They know that there are employment-bound Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) learners with the soft skills employers are looking for - and they certainly know that many manufacturers are having trouble finding and keeping entry-level staff.

With this in mind they have developed a 3-step plan to better connect the Literacy and Basic Skills field to local manufacturers. The goal of this plan is to provide LBS programs with new resources to help their employment-bound learners, and to help manufacturers understand the value of literacy for both their potential and current employees.

This plan, called "Finding the Way: Building a Stronger Path Between LBS and Manufacturing" is available as a PDF below, and we would very much appreciate your feedback on it. Would you please take a few minutes to review it, and share your thoughts via the survey link posted here? Please feel free to share both the report and the survey link with others as well.

Warehouse Worker & Material Handler Curriculum

As part of their 2020/2021 business plan Community Literacy of Ontario (CLO) partnered with Tri-County Literacy Council (TCLC) to research, write and adapt The Warehouse Worker and Material Handler. Literacy Link Eastern Ontario provided existing curriculum to be revised, adapted and updated.

CLO and the TCLC are very excited to have this opportunity to support adult learners and LBS programs!
