Last year we asked you to write to the police chief in Cândido Sales demanding that action be taken to bring to justice the man accused of drugging and raping one of the girls at our Pink House.
Your letters had an effect, and because of the pressure the case - which had been swept under the carpet (the accused had a relative in the police station) - was brought before a judge, who issued an arrest warrant for the man, a local taxi driver.
However, by then he had fled the town and is believed to now be living in the south of Brazil, on the border with Argentina.
The police chief, who is actually keen to show those of you who wrote letters that he wants to resolve the case, has tried two discover his whereabouts. But being in charge of a small country town force with limited resources, believes there isn't much more he can do.
We need, then, pressure from above on Brazil's authorities to use all the resources at their disposal to arrest this man and bring him back to face justice. Otherwise this young girl's case with simply grind to a halt and, as is so often the case, she will never find justice or closure.
We know, for example, that the taxi driver draws a state pension - so with will and effort it would not be difficult for Brazil's authorities to find out where he is living.
So we are asking if you can write another letter, this time to the Brazilian ambassador in London, demanding that action is taken. As well as helping to bring justice, it is also a way of speaking out for all these girls, showing that it doesn't matter that they are poor, powerless and insignificant - the law needs to work for them, too.
Because of the details we want you to include in the letter, we don't want to post the template here. Please reply to this email and we will send you the text (in English) that we'd like to you include, and the address.
The letter can be handwritten, or typed and signed. Please include your address, and please let us know if you received any replies from the embassy by writing to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We won't stop fighting for this young victim, for whom we are her only hope of finding justice! Please take 10 minutes to write a letter and post it off - it could make the difference in this precious girl's life. Thank you.
