|Dear <<First Name>>
Today is a very special date for Meninadança. Twenty years ago, on February 12, 1999, our first Pink House opened its doors!
That was in Belo Horizonte, and Warlei and I had seen how girls living on the streets of that big city were falling through the gaps of existing projects. We decided to find some way of drawing them away from the streets, building up their self-esteem and showing them what they could achieve - and Meninadança (the street girls themselves chose the name) was born.
Twenty years on, and we are so thankful for all that has happened since then, and especially thankful to all of you who have come along with us on the journey.
It never crossed our minds back then that we would today have other Pink Houses, changing the lives of girls in remote towns on a motorway we then had never heard of.
As we celebrate 20 years, we are seeing amazing things at our Pink Houses in Medina and Cândido Sales, where girls are finding hope, being empowered, and being themselves catalysts of change in their communities.
And we are taking the first steps to starting a new project in another town, Padre Paraiso, where we know there are hundreds of girls in desperate need.
Please watch our timeline video of all that has happened in the last 20 years by clicking here!
And please, if you are able, celebrate this milestone with us by making a donation of £20 - which will go towards our new project in Padre Paraiso, including the work of reaching out to girls and the set-up costs of the new Pink House there.
You can make a donation online at: meninadanca.org/20.
Thank you again for standing with us as we fight Brazil's child prostitution epidemic.
