Donna Smith, MFT
Donna May is a therapist, consultant, educator, and writer who lives and works in Etna.  She has worn many hats over the past twenty-plus years, but one word that identifies who she is and what her work is about:  story-tender.

Whether counseling individuals, couples, or families in her office, facilitating classes and workshops on dreams, writing, and story, or volunteering in her community, Donna is listening to the stories that inform people’s lives and dreams. Below are some of the services she offers:

Back for a fourth year, Donna is in the middle of conducting a series of four Soul Callings Workshops in Mt. Shasta, the next one set for Sunday, July 10th. These are powerful experiential workshops that are offered thanks to grants via the Josephine Taylor Foundation and administered by the Mt. Shasta Community Resource Center.

There are current and upcoming projects she is involved with which center around the use of writing and story to heal and transform people and communities. Currently, she is involved in a writing and storytelling project at the court school here in Siskiyou County, a program that she dearly loves and would like to expand upon in the future.

Other community storytelling events include her volunteer work and co-facilitation of The Hearth-Scott Valley Community Storytelling Event, a twice-yearly event where folks come together to hear the personal stories of their neighbors, listen to local musicians, and raise some funds for a local charity.

Beginning this fall, Donna will be starting a two year project in which teens and adults can sign-up to write and share their personal and family stories about the challenges of living with mental health and/or alcohol and other drugs issues.  She will be conducting a series of 9-week classes throughout Siskiyou County, including Scott Valley. This project is underwritten by Siskiyou County Behavioral Health’s Stigma Reduction grant and will be free to all who would like to come. You are encouraged to sign up for Donna’s email list so you can receive updates as they become available on this class (www.psychescall.com).

In addition to her in-office and community work, Donna offers online classes on dreams, writing, and story, as well as has an online membership for women who are evolving, growing, and wanting the support of others.  This membership offers twice-monthly online groups.

One of her favorite things to do is offer free daily writing prompts to people around the world (you can sign up at:  www.psychescall.com/writing).  A labor of love for the past 2 ½ years, she enjoys the feedback she receives about how the writing has not only helped them with their writing, but their lives and world perspective, too.

For more information about Donna May and her work, you can call her at 467-3353 or visit her website at: www.psychescall.com
