Fort Jones Lions Club
The Fort Jones Lions Club is a service organization that works to identify needs within the community.  The club was formed in 2001 when 22 Scott Valley residents banded together to form the Fort Jones Lions Club.  Today, the club is comprised of 33 men and women of all ages dedicated to making our community a better place to live.

While Lions are well known for their efforts to help the blind and visually impaired, the Fort Jones Lions also have a variety of projects aimed at caring for the environment, feeding the hungry, promoting literacy and aiding seniors and the disabled within our community.  The Fort Jones Lions fund youth sports, awards scholarships to Etna High graduates, provides firewood to valley residents in need, funds vision care services for both children and adults and purchases books each year for local preschool-age children.  In addition, for the past six years, club members have delivered meals provided by Madrone Senior Services to local shut-ins.

Throughout the year, the club conducts fundraisers and community projects such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Fall Festival, Christmas Parade, food booth at the Pleasure Park Rodeo and White Cane Campaign to support its various projects.  A new and exciting project conceived by Lion Don Hugo is in the works for spring 2017.  The new event will be a Tractor Drive around beautiful Scott Valley with a BBQ lunch and other fun events.  Stay tuned for more information about the Tractor Drive!

The Fort Jones Lions share a common belief that “service is its own reward” and “community is what we make”.  According to Fort Jones Lions Club President, Mark Eayrs, “Lions make a difference every day, everywhere. Whether by organizing a fundraiser or building a wheelchair ramp for someone in need, we are a hands-on organization.  When you become a Lion you join a group of committed individuals who work hard and have fun while serving their community.”
Everyone is welcome to attend a Lions club meeting to find out more about the club and how they can help benefit the community.  Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 a.m. at the Fort Jones Community Center.  You can also visit them on the Fort Jones Lions Club facebook page.

For more information, contact President Mark Eayrs at 530-598-2192 or Club Membership Chair Frank Ely at 530-598-0210.
