Make It furniture exhibition

The art of furniture design

Works created by design students of Victoria University are currently on public display in the Make It exhibition.

The collection of unique furniture is the result of many study hours spent on concept development, detailed mock-ups, testing and production undertaken as part of the university's summer trimester furniture design and construction elective.

Metal Art is pleased to be associated with the university's Architecture and Design programme and a proud sponsor of the exhibition. Our production methods were incorporated into the students' project brief, after a group visit to our plant last November.

Make It is on at the Te Aro Campus until 28 February.
Peninsular Picnic Setting

Additions to the street & park furniture catalogue

Catalogue brochures and specification sheets are currently being distributed for our new Seaview Seat and Bench and the Peninsular Picnic Table Setting. These sturdy pieces of furniture are already proving popular around the Wellington region, particularly for coastal applications. For this reason, they are available in Tonka timber as well as our standard hardwood species. Tonka is regarded as one of the best timbers available for use in marine environments.

Documentation for these products is available on the respective pages of our website. We look forward to seeing these stylish yet strong and durable site furnishings give public enjoyment for decades to come.

Beachcombers by the water in Harcourt Park

When Upper Hutt City Council upgraded the furniture at one of the region's most popular parks, our recycled plastic Beachcomber seats were chosen for installation around the paddling pool. Now parents and caregivers can watch in comfort while the young ones splash around and have fun under the spray feature, or clamber through the adjacent playground.

Beachcomber Seats

Beachcomber Seats, Harcourt Park
Council staff chose to place Beachcombers in the paddling pool area for their bright blue colour that fits perfectly with the aquatic theme of the enclosed area. Then there is the long life the public can expect out of these seats. As both supports and legs are made from recycled plastic with stainless steel fittings used, no part of the seats will rot, split  or corrode over time. They are perfect for the pool environment, and being manufactured from waste diverted from the landfill, they're great for the wider environment too!

Beachcomber seats come in the full range of Replas colours. Check out our website for further details, including great design examples for the Advanced Beachcomber.
Pipefloats on shore

Pipefloats added to our diverse range

We are pleased to announce our NZ distributorship for Pipefloats. These specialist items support pipe, hose and cable lines across water. Pipefloats make for easy transfer of slurries and liquids in otherwise difficult and costly situations.
Pipefloats are used primarily in large-scale mining, marine and agricultural operations, but also have a range of other uses. We are excited about helping to bring this cost-saving device to New Zealand.

Manufactured by Palamont, supplier of our Cottapot™ plant containers and casual furniture, Pipefloats are made from recyclable and VOC-free polyethylene. For all enquiries, contact Carl at 04 939 6666.

Spun aluminium planters - for a touch of class

In these times of low unit cost/high volume manufacturing processes, the work of the artisan still has a place. Case in point - our Karaka Oil Jars, individually spun from 1.6mm aluminium sheet into a form to grace any larger plantscape.

Powder coating large oil jars

In the Arabian Nights, Ali Baba discovers the secret of the 40 Thieves, who hide in oil jars to seek retribution. There's nothing hidden about the Karaka Oil Jar - an individually fabricated plant container for the discerning.

Our powder coating plant can finish your oil jars in any one of a thousand colours, to make a bold statement wherever they are on display with a quality planting to match.
