Working with Ambius to bring nature indoors
Ambius is a leading provider of indoor commercial plantscapes, their products and services bringing the natural touch to interior office and public spaces that ensure a fresh and welcoming environment. When the Ambius team needs plant containers and display structures to meet the specifications of their customers, the call comes through to Metal Art.
Office design is constantly evolving, with more open spaces and less room for each person to work within. “The need to fit plantscapes into tighter spaces demands new thinking in
design,” says Tracy Stephen, Business Manager at Ambius Wellington. “So much of our work is now in customized solutions that it’s critical we have strong partnerships with our planter suppliers. Metal Art is great in that regard - very flexible and responsive to individual design and deadline requirements.”
The Metal Art team gain a lot from working with Ambius too. Innovative ideas mean that staff must apply their creative skills in design and production to come up with the solution. “A good example is the installation of trough planters and screens at the new Portlander restaurant in Featherston Street,” says Tracy. “With Metal Art’s help, we created a spacious dining area right on one of Wellington’s busiest corners for pedestrian traffic.”
Ambius makes extensive use of products supplied by Metal Art – from metal troughs to self irrigating Lechuza planters, from polyethylene

containers in the Cottapot range to spun aluminium Karaka pots. “Sourcing the right planter is never a problem to Metal Art,” Tracy concludes.

Parking made easy with modified wheel stops
At central Wellington serviced apartments 10Glilmer, a set of 16 Replas wheel stops now makes it very clear where drivers should park, and where they shouldn't.
For their private parking area on a shared driveway in the heart of the city, the new management chose to install our distinctive yellow wheel stops, with the 10Glimer logo and numbered spaces routed into the recycled plastic, the text painted black.
Modified Replas wheels stops
Colour-fast, hardwearing and environmentally friendly Replas wheel stops are also available in black, grey and blue. In addition to any customized text, they can be modified to include a range of high-visibility reflectors.

Litter disposal for people on the go
BP first introduced Wild Bean Cafés to New Zealand’s in 2005, and they’ve become integral to the company’s service stations across the land. A Wild Bean Café is just the place to grab a quick bite and coffee to go, an added service that has proved popular with busy Kiwis.
As Wild Bean Cafes are upgraded throughout the BP network, Metallion bins are installed for disposal of the inevitable litter that comes with casual food and beverage retail. In choosing Metallion, BP went for the stainless steel models that would best complement the clean lines of the store interiors. The supply of our Metallion bins is coordinated by Total Food Equipment Ltd of Napier. “The customer wanted bins that showed some class in keeping with the overall design theme of Wild Bean Cafes,” says TFE manager Mike Mclay. “Metal Art did the trick with their Metallion CT38-80’s, which met expectations in all respects.”
As well as the brushed stainless steel finish preferred at Wild Bean Café, Metallion bins can be supplied with mild steel body, powder coated to the colour of choice. They are available in several sizes, with open top, ticket slot top and ash/litter options.
