LATER BLOOMER'S NEW LOOK
June 2019
Like a beautiful old library lovingly restored, Later Bloomer has found its magic again.
Five years have passed since my last redesign but my stepfather's death kept me from finishing. And in 2018, my mom passed away.
These events feel like bookends to the dimming of my passion and creativity—one of the complex ways grief creeps in and takes up residence, I think.
In between, I kept Later Bloomer limping along. It became more of a dusty anthology than a captivating archive.
Then, for the first time in ages, January 2019 actually felt like a New Year. I started reading about Maria Sibylla Merian, a 17th-century artist and naturalist.
At 52, in an age when most people thought butterflies were witches, Maria sailed to Suriname to study insects. She brought me back to Later Bloomer.
As I wove her drawings into my design, I gained a renewed sense of hope and purpose.
I want Later Bloomer to be this for you—a joyful place, one that you can visit when you feel life has passed you by. One that leaves you inspired and renewed.
Because now more than ever, thanks to Maria and my other Later Bloomers, I'm convinced that you're never too old and it's never too late!

Please let me know what you think!
Warmly,

P.S. Part 2, where I reveal Later Bloomer's "new wing," will follow shortly!
