Term 4 - Friday 5th March 2021
World Book Day

It was fantastic to see children in school and at home engaging in activities around World Book Day this week.  Thanks you so much to Mr Daines for organising our Masked Reader competition - did you manage to identify everyone?  All of our Masked Reader videos can be found on our Facebook page.

We also have some exciting new books in the library for children to enjoy!  Later in the year, we hope to organise a further whole school reading event with everyone back in school together.

As you know, we have been getting ready for the return of all pupils from Monday next week.  We held a Virtual School Council meeting this week which is made up of children from across the school.  We discussed ideas for helping everybody settle back in to school and feel happy and ready to learn.

As a staff we wanted to say a massive thank you for everyone's efforts during lockdown.  We do not underestimate the challenges our parents and carers have faced over the last few months whether your children are in school or working remotely at home.  Thank you also for your ongoing feedback and messages of support for all the staff.  These have been really appreciated throughout.

You can find a copy of our plans as well as our new risk assessment on the school website:

Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
Mr Paramor
When coming on to site, we ask all adults to maintain social distancing and, unless exempt, to wear a face covering.  Thank you for your support.
Live Parliament Workshop
This week children in Year 5 and 6 learnt all about the UK Parliament.  Children at home and in school were involved in a live webinar direct from the Houses of Parliament.  It was fantastic to hear them engaging with the speakers and voting on different issues.  They had some very insightful questions.

In Term 2 we introduced class debates across the school which the children have enjoyed.  In the Year 5 and 6 online debate this week, our children were incredibly respectful of each other, listened well and built on each others' ideas - just like it is in the real Parliament!
Oddizzi Success

Congratulations to children in Year 5 for some tremendous geography work.  Year 5 have been learning about rainforests and have had some of their work sent to Oddizzi.  Oddizzi is an online platform which supports geography work in schools across the country.  They have described our children's work as: 'fantastic and so full of detail'.

All children at PaWS can explore the Oddizzi website at home by following the link on the online learning page on our school website:
Online Safety

We recently sent you information about a website called Omegle which you may have seen in the news and been concerned about.

It is important for parents and carers to be aware of the risks associated with this and other sites.  You will find a parent a guide to a range of sites, games and APPS on the school website.  You will also find guidance for setting up parental controls.

If you ever have an online safety concern, please contact Mrs Delaney via the school office.
Bereavement Support
We know that some families have suffered from a bereavement over recent weeks.  In school, we have a collection of supportive books for children which families are welcome to borrow.  They deal with sadness and loss and children may find them helpful.  We also have a dedicated page on our website, with resources and links to support families.

As always, please contact us if there is anything we can do to support.
New Coats
Please see our new fleece lined, waterproof coats stylishly modelled by Lauren and Joshua.
These can purchased in the normal way through ParentMail for £22.
