Term 5 - Friday 11th June 2021
Welcome back
Children have come back for Term 6 excited and have had a busy first week.

As part of  Worship, we discussed the importance of being safe in hot weather and made sure we all knew about 'Wrap Splat Hat' to avoid getting sunburnt or overheating.

In Year 3 the children have been inspired by their reading and decided to create their own volcanoes.

Year 5 have been creating their own adapted versions of 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' using a range of instruments.  They have also been computer programmers this week and developed written algorithms using the 'Scratch' program.

On Thursday, all the children in Key Stage 2 had the chance to sample a range of delicious fruit and vegetables.  This will support our work in promoating healthy eating.
Helping our Community
At the end of last term,  Neverland class received a letter from the Toilet Twinning charity thanking them for their donation over £300 which has helped to fund projects and enabled all the toilet blocks in the school to twinned with toilets in either Honduras, Uganda or Zambia.  As a class, they donated pocket money, Christmas and birthday money and even organised sponsored events at home.  We are so proud of the children.

You can see some of the community work we have been involved with both close to home and abroad on our website.  Thank you to all our families for your support.
This week's attendance was 97.6% across the whole school.
Well done to Fantasia for 100% attendance this week!
A pretty plea to Parents please.
If you have any unwanted broken/odd/damaged ceramic tiles (any pattern or colour)  to enable us to make a large mosaic piece of art work for the school please drop them to the main office where there will be a collection box  (outside) for them.

Also - does anyone know or have connections to a Nursery who can donate 4 red planters and/or 4 evergreen plants to enhance the outside area to the main entrance of our school?

Onine Safety support for for parents and carers
Children are learning more and more about the internet at a young age with 55% 3-4 year olds having access to tablets and the internet. With these rising figures, children are increasingly vulnerable to online dangers. This session will teach you how to talk to your child about E-Safety and gives lots of useful tips and tricks on how to keep them safe online.
Thursday 17th June 10:30-12:30pm
Tuesday 29th June 12-2pm
Wednesday 28th July 10-12pm

To book into any of these dates please email your name and the title - 'E-Safety' to 'Open for Parents' will then send you the link to join.

You will find a parent a guide to a range of sites, games and APPs on the school website.  You will also find guidance for setting up parental controls.

If you ever have an online safety concern, please contact Mrs Delaney via the school office.
PaWS Passports
Children across the school are now working on their PaWS Passports

These include some key knowledge that children in each year group would be expected to have before the end of the year in Geography, History and Science.  We know that due to the two periods of school closures, not all of the children will be secure with this knowledge.  This is why we will be recapping and 'over-learning' these elements in class alongside the rest of the children's learning.

We will be organising some team quizzes towards the end of the summer term to check that children are ready for next year.

Any support you can provide at home with this would be fantastic.  Children will be bringing a copy of their PaWs Passport to keep at home and they are also available on the school website:
PaWS for Strides

Thank you to all our children and families who have got involved with Mr Peters and his work around walking to school or parking slightly further away and walking from there.  Not only will this promote healthy lifestyle for the children, it will also reduce the traffic on the high street.

Please continue to support 'PaWS for Strides' throughout the summer term and into next year.

Come and join your Parish Councillors on one of the council’s general litter picks which are arranged throughout the year.

Meet at Sea Road Car Park on 13th June 2021 at 9AM

All equipment will be provided.  Areas to be covered are the Beach and Pevensey Bay and if there is enough people, then Pevensey.

Measures will be in place to ensure the litter pick is Covid safe.

Contact Sarah Mosedale, The Parish Clerk on 07849 124319 for further details.
