Term 6 - Friday 23rd July 2021
Thank you!
Thank you to Narnia class for their playground graffiti!

As we come to the end of another academic year, we wanted to take this opportunity to say well done to all our pupils for how positively they have responded to the difficult year they have had.  We have put together some resources to support families during the summer break which you may find useful if you follow this link:
Being Safe and Well at PaWS

There is lots of information for you today including: our school values' survey; measures in school from September; PE kits and uniform; Summer Learning Support from PaWS as well as flyers from a range of providers offering summer clubs.

The staff would like to thank our families this year for your continued support to help all the children at PaWS to flourish.

I wish you all a lovely summer and I hope the whole PaWS community have enjoyable time with your families.  Take care.

Mr Paramor
Summer Support
To support children to maintain the momentum in their learning and be in a strong position at the start of next year, we have put together a range of links and resources to engage children over the summer.

The activities suggested are not designed to take over their holiday; instead, we would encourage a little but often approach.

Summer Support Activities

In particular we would encourage children to read lots and access DoodleMaths, Times Table Rockstars or Numbots regularly for short periods.  Children also have the chance to share any writing they do over the summer by uploading it to the school padlet.  We will be sending out weekly writing challenges via Facebook and ClassDojo.
Core Christian Values - Parent/Carer and Pupil Voice
In our Worships over the last few weeks, pupils have been thinking about our School Vision. As part of this, we have been talking about what our Core Christian Values should be as a school.

This week the School Council and our newly-appointed Worship Leaders shared ideas on what they believe our values could be and we have managed to whittle these down to just 9 values. We would now like to ask for the feedback and opinions of all our parents, carers and pupils in finalising what these will be, ready for a relaunch in September.

Please may we ask you to take the time to look at the survey below, discuss these suggestions with your children and then complete the form stating which are your top 5 preferred values. This is a momentous event for the school and will form part of our development going forward over the next few years.

The deadline for completing this is Sunday 8th August.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this and having a voice in the future of PaWS.

FREE Summer Workbooks
White Rose Maths have developed a series of FREE colourful and engaging workbooks designed to revisit and practise work that children have covered earlier in the year and to prepare them for the new school year ahead.

Parents and carers can collect the books from 26th July onwards at any of Morrisons’ store nationwide.

Covid Measures at PaWS from Septmeber
In September we hope to be returning to a sense of normality in school.  Staggered starts and class bubbles will not be in place and we hope to be able to mix more freely.  We will continue to ensure children have good respiratory hygiene, keep areas well-ventilated and maintain regular hand washing.

Please click here for our letter regarding drop off and collection arrangements.

Schools are no longer responsible for contact tracing and from 16th August, children under the age of 18 will no longer be required to self-isolate if they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace as a close contact.

In-line with the DfE Schools Covid-19 Operation Guidance, we will have contingency plans in place should their be further outbreaks.

Should the government guidance change during the summer, we will alert families as soon as possible to any changes to the planned procedures.
PE Kits and Uniform
Following parent feedback, we have decided to continue to keep children coming into school in their PE Kits on the day they have PE at the start of next year.

Children should wear plain black trainers/plimsolls on these days.  Brightly coloured trainers are not acceptable.  They should wear their school jumpers over the top in colder weather.

Children will not have PE on the Friday we return to school and we will share the PE timetable with you in September.

School uniform is important to help children feel equal to their peers and creates a sense of community and pride in the the school.

Clubs for next year

We will share the menu of the clubs available for pupils in the new school year.  We plan for these to start from 13th September 2021.
Online Safety Focus at PaWS
Due to the pandemic, children are likely to have spent more time online and using devices this year than ever before.  Throughout the year we have taught the children about how to remain safe online and maintain a positive digital footprint.

This has been a particular focus across the school in the last few weeks and we would encourage all our parents and carers to discuss these issues with their children.

Open for Parents are offering some free support for parents regarding a range E-Safety topics with useful tips on how to keep children safe online.
