Don the apparel?

Residential Christmas Light Display
Does it matter if they're LEDs? There are as many ways to green, as to un-green – what are you doing to be greener at this time of year? Do you have a new tradition? What's the biggest challenge? Please share your ideas with the Sustainable Belmont community on Facebook - we can all benefit!

Here are some ideas to start:
When it comes to wrapping, skip the metallic prints as this paper finish can't be recycled. Try re-useable ribbons instead of paper tape or a decorative bag can be a quick wrap with the benefit of being reused, then recycled. When the plastic wrap comes out, be ready to set aside to recycle at the grocery store where you can recycle CLEAN & DRY plastic shopping bags, dry cleaning bags, ziplock bags (without hard plastic closure), bread bags, newspaper bags, produce bags, packaging overwrap and air pillows at the grocery store - TREX is partnered with Star Market. For packaging styrofoam, ReFoamIt is your destination - they have ongoing recycling and singular events. Remember to separate corrugated cardboard (the wave between the layers of paper) from compressed cardboard (no wave, cereal box-type). And, don't be shy, wherever you are, to pull out the recycling bin and lead by example.

In the spirit of giving....Belmont Light will be hosting a community event on December 19th and giving away CFLs and LED night lights, new LEDs will be sold at $5 ea. (click picture).
