Share Your KCD Story with the King County Council!

Over the last year, KCD has held public hearings, taken comments, and received stakeholder feedback on our proposed 2020-2024 plan of work. Thank you to everyone who participated. Now, we're reaching the finish line and need your help. The King County Council is the final decider on approving KCD's plan of work and the corresponding funding it takes to get that work done. The County Council needs to hear from KCD partners, cooperators, and volunteers just how important the work we do is.

Orca Recovery Day 2019

This year, over 70 events were held by Conservation Districts and partner organizations stretching from British Columbia to Northern California. Events provided volunteers the opportunity to help restore critical salmon habitat along stream and riversides by planting native vegetation that will help keep waters cool, increase insect populations, and reduce erosion. Helping maintain salmon populations directly benefits our orca.

The most important outcome of this program for young women is the empowerment to move forward in their lives with confidence and passion about the outdoors. KCD supports this program through a 2018 KCD-Seattle Community Partnership Grant for $75,000.
