Order Your Native Plants Today!

Native plants enhance our environment in many ways. All of our living things, from the Gold Finch to the Chanterelle Mushroom, evolved to rely on our native plants. For example our young Salmon feed on insects that are adapted to eat native plant leaves, they thrive in shady water filtered by plants adapted to our shores, and at the end of their lives provide fertilizer that our native plants utilize.

The KCD Native Plant Sale features 70 beautiful species that are easy to plant and affordable. Placing your order early ensures the best selection. Visit the Plant Sale page on our website for details and online ordering.

The Plant Pick-up Day is Saturday, March 16, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Renton Community Center. We look forward to seeing you there!

KCD Board Elections

King Conservation District (KCD) will host an election in 2019 for Seat #1 on the KCD Board of Supervisors. All Supervisors are public officials who serve without compensation and who set policy and direction for the conservation district.

To apply for the open position, submit an application to KCD by the candidate filing deadline. Candidates must be registered voters within the conservation district boundary and may be required to own land or operate a farm. The candidate filing deadline for the 2019 KCD election is January 31st, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

The primary method of voting in this election will be by mail-in, paper ballot that must be requested by the voter using an online or telephone ballot application process. Registered voters who reside within the conservation district boundary are eligible to vote. A hyperlink to this application will be available on the KCD website at 9:00 a.m. March 15th, 2019 and through the end of the voting period.

Alternatively, an in-person paper ballot polling station will also be available at the KCD Office (800 SW 39th St, Suite 150, Renton, WA 98057). This in-person polling site will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (PST) Monday through Friday only during the voting period.

The voting period will be from Monday, March 18th, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. through Friday March 29th, 2019 until 5:00 p.m. All ballots must be requested by the end of the voting period to be valid. Because this is an on-request mail-in election, no “absentee ballots” are necessary.

Published elections procedures can be viewed at the KCD Office. Contact the KCD office at 425-282-1900 with questions or visit the KCD Elections and Appointments webpage for more information.
