KCD Welcomes New Wildfire and Forest Resiliency Coordinator
We are excited to welcome Matt Axe as our new Wildfire and Forest Resiliency Coordinator. Matt brings a strong background and wealth of experience to this position. He will hit the ground running developing a fire risk assessment for the Emerald Heights Community in the City of Redmond, as well as presenting on wildfire preparedness with King County and the local fire district to the Lake Desire Community.

Seattle Environmental Equity Projects Now Being Accepted!
The King Conservation District (KCD) – Seattle Community Partnership Grant Program is requesting applications from organizations and community groups committed to improving Seattle’s natural resources and addressing environmental injustice.

Hazel Valley Community Garden
KCD was out helping the Hazel Valley Community Garden with a fun event, just one of many, that are going into making this community garden a success. The garden aims to improve stormwater mitigation, increase food access, bring neighbors together, and build healthy soil.

2019 WA State Envirothon
Students from across Washington state gathered last week at Camp Don Bosco in Carnation for the 2019 WA State Envirothon. Eight teams competed in the two-day event after winning their regional competitions earlier in the year. King, Snohomish, and Pierce Conservation Districts host the natural resource sciences competition. Seatte's Ingraham High School team won this year’s competition and will represent Washington State at the national competition this July in North Carolina.

Kirstin combines a background in both public and private sectors in King County having worked for the King County Council’s office and the public affairs firm Mercury.
