  Our Weekly Why
A closer look at what we're really doing...

Erickson's Family

Before coming to the Philippines, Mike and Andrea Erickson felt no different than the average American couple. That changed when they made a short mission visit to Frontline five years ago.

Prior to marriage, Andrea had a passion for missions and was involved in numerous trips to different parts of the world. Mike grew up in ministry and loved serving, but says he never felt he would be called to work in a foreign land.

Mike and Andrea had agreed that during the early years of their married life they would go on at least one mission trip together. Not long after their wedding, they went to a church banquet where they heard Jeff Pessina speaking about the plight of street children in the Philippines. They knew that night that Frontline would be the mission trip they would go on together.

They visited the Philippines to serve for six weeks. But by the end of their time they knew in their hearts that God was calling them, and that life was about to take some drastic turns. When they returned home, they began preparations to move to the Philippines, and to serve with Frontline long term. In 2006 they returned and teamed up with the staff to see FTC become effective and to grow, and are now the Managing Directors of FTC.

FTC Family

For over five years they have served hundreds of abused, abandoned, or neglected children. Each day they serve to see the FTC children loved, protected, and healed, and to move on to a successful future that at one time seemed all but impossible.

With an average of 28 children living full time in FTC, and now three beautiful children of their own, they have obviously been busy! What a blessing it is to see these young children recover, and grow healthy physically, spiritually, and academically. Three of the FTC children are now in College!

Great achievements are rarely accomplished by individuals acting alone. It takes team work. We are all in this together. Through prayer, financial and moral support, and willing vessels like the Ericksons, Frontline continues to see lives redeemed and changed. Thank you for being a part of the Frontline vision and mission!
