June 2021
Greetings, River Neighbors
I’m happy to meet you! My name is Allen Clare and I am the new vice president of TVA River & Resources Stewardship. I am new to this role, but certainly not new to TVA. For several years I have been over on the power-generating side of TVA as vice president of Gas, Hydro & Integration in Power Operations. My predecessor David Bowling and I have swapped roles to get more familiar with the different parts of our business. I know you wish him well in his new role.
A little about me: I came to TVA from Duke Energy where I was general manager of their Midwest fleet. Prior to that I was the plant manager of Sutton Energy Complex in Wilmington North Carolina responsible for coal & gas generation plants. I jumped at the opportunity to join the TVA team and was enticed by our noble mission of service. I must say I am also enthralled by the beauty of the Tennessee Valley and all it has to offer.
My River Neighbor friends, I am focused and passionate on continuing to uphold TVA’s mission of service—to make life better for the people of the Valley with our care of public lands and our access to the water. I look forward to sharing information with you.
Throughout quarantine conditions in the past year, we’ve kept our public lands open for your enjoyment, including trails and undeveloped recreation areas. As National Trails Day arrives this weekend, we look forward to hosting you. Let’s make it a safe and healthy summer.
Allen Clare
VP, TVA River & Resources Stewardship

Boating this summer? Our crew helps keep you safe
If you’re like most recreation enthusiasts, you may not think much of the bright red and green buoys that dot the sparkling waters as you jet ski, boat or fish. But the crew of TVA’s tugboat Sideview knows they’re vital to keeping the navigation channels safe.

Stop! Don’t pick up an axe until you pick up the phone
Before cutting trees or undergrowth on or near a TVA reservoir, a property owner’s first call should be to TVA. We’ll answer questions and help you avoid possible costly mistakes.
