Executive Director’s Report

The Rev. Bob LawrenceThe month of June has seen the launch of Summer Camp 2021 and the continued promise of a return to some sense of “normalcy.” Just the arrival of the seasonal summer staff more than doubled the existing staff, and their presence among us is an encouragement for us all. Additionally, volunteers continue to bless us as they answer our plea for assistance to help in food service and grounds maintenance. While the needs remain, and at times it seems as though we are maintaining this ministry on the edge of a precipice, our gracious Lord continues to meet us and provide. In an effort to promote St. Christopher to the wider community of the Anglican Church in North America, an exhibit was secured for the three days of the annual meeting of Provincial Council at The Cove near Asheville, NC from June 14-17. In addition to promoting the use of St. Christopher to potential guests, it was also a wonderful reunion of many friends that have already visited these hallowed grounds. An additional gathering of friends occurred with the official Dedication of Eve’s Fun Park as part of the opening activities of Grand Camp on June 21, 2021.  Named to honor Eve Kinloch Evans, a new children’s playground was dedicated by Bishop Fitz Allison with other honored guests in attendance. Read on to learn more about this and other opportunities that await you in this special place.

St. Christopher continues to be blessed by the volunteer assistance of others. The areas in which volunteers are most helpful include grounds maintenance with the Facility Staff, and food service assistance.  We welcome individuals and groups to share in these needs.  Facility needs are constant with volunteers welcomed at any time convenient for them.  Food Service needs are specific, and include assisting in the serving of meals to guest groups. All volunteers are best scheduled in advance for our own planning.
