Events for 2017 Printed Publications
Attraction and town partners are invited to submit up to 6 events for possible inclusion in 2017 events calendars. Ideally both the name of the event and the exact 2017 date(s); failing that the name of the event and the month in which it takes place. The deadline is Wednesday 31 August.

Our 2016 Photo Competition, in partnership with Newsquest titles, has been generating excellent exposure in the local press. Send your July entries in now before the end of the month and encourage all your guests to do so too, as there are some fabulous prizes to be won. Pokemon GO - you may have noticed that the new Pokemon GO app has taken the world by storm. This augmented reality game encourages users to explore their surroundings particularly popular landmarks to collect Pokemon. We want to make sure you are taking advantage of this opportunity so please check out Pokemon Go - Business Benefits - How it can help your hospitality business. 

Accessibility - we have been consulted and interviewed by BBC Wiltshire regarding the accessibility of Wiltshire as a holiday destination and we therefore thought it would be worth reminding partners about how you can understand the accessible tourism market - which is worth £12 billion a year to the tourism economy. Providing Access for All information and Writing an Access Statement are worth a read. 

New Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport - Karen Bradley MP and Tracey Crouch MP remains in post as Tourism Minister. Read Karen Bradley's biography.  

£3 million Cultural Destination Fund now open for applications.
As part of VisitBritain's three-year partnership with Arts Council England, the £3 million Cultural Destinations programme is now open for applications. The programme aims to enable arts and cultural organisations, working in partnership with their Destination Organisation (ie. VisitWiltshire), to drive visitor economy growth by increasing their reach, engagement and resilience. We would love to hear from any of our cultural organisation partners who have bid ideas that fit the guidelines. See Advice and Guidance.The deadline for ideas to VisitWiltshire is 29 July 2016. With over 500 entries already logged across the South West, entry into most categories in this year's awards is now closed, but there is a later deadline of 26th August for entries in 3 selected categories; these are International Visitor Experience, Unsung Hero Award for Customer Service and Tourism Event and Festival.
