First Great Western Offers

With summer approaching First Great Western are looking for strong special offers that are seasonally relevant, ideally up to the end of October 2015 (although specific dates can be included).  These will be featured on the First Great Western website and promoted via radio and press advertising and to a database of over 1.5m customers. There is no cost for this.  If you would like to submit an offer please download the form here and return it to as soon as possible.  Offers will go live on 1 May.

We are keen to promote your special offers for both May Bank Holiday weekends on our website, please contact Emma with details. Our 2015 online Special Offers are now available here and can be promoted to your visitors.

Familiarisation Passport

VisitWiltshire’s 2015 Familiarisation Passport has now been sent out to all partners. The Passport gives VisitWiltshire partners and their staff the opportunity to visit attractions and other businesses around the county free of charge, with potential savings of over £670. By knowing at first-hand what is available locally, we can all work together to help our visitors make the most of their stay. Initially all partners have received one copy each. We do have a small number of spare copies, so if you would like an extra one please email Jenny.

Travel Trade Update

We continue to work closely with our Travel Trade Group and now welcome two new Sponsors - Fleet Air Museum and Wiltshire Museum / Salisbury Museum and two new Partners The Bridge Tea Rooms and the Contemporary Heritage & Craft Fair. We are planning our activity for 2015/2016 now and if you are interested in joining this group please contact Florence.   

PR Update

March proved to be a bumper month for PR activity with an AVE of over £170k and a PR reach of approximately 13m  people.

Industry News

Developing Wiltshire Food and Drink

The food and drink sector in Wiltshire has been identified as a priority sector by the SW LEP and has attracted EU funding. VisitWiltshire are working with Taste of Wiltshire to develop our food and drink offer and are inviting companies involved across the food and drink supply chain to  take part in one of a number of open sessions to find out what the funding could mean for the sector, and to understand what your challenges, needs and priorities are.  Current plans include a plan for a membership organisation to support the industry and encourage collaboration, training, business support and a programme of marketing activity.  If you would like to get involved the following events are being held across the county.

South West £5m Fund for Boosting Tourism

VisitEngland have appointed VisitWiltshire to the ‘Expert Group’ leading on developing and implementing the new £5m fund to boost tourism to the South West. The money will back proposals for a clear strategy for tourism in the South West based upon the unique strengths that the region has to offer. VisitWiltshire are participating in a wider consultation group meeting next week.

If you are a train user in Wiltshire, TransWilts Community Rail Partnership are very keen that you have your say. Please spare a few moments to take part in their online surveys  The Wiltshire Train Users Survey and the Demand Survey for Corsham Station.
