Plan your 2017 city break to Salisbury

Salisbury is home to all your favourite stores, as well as independent retailers offering interesting and unusual items you won’t find on every high street, and on Tuesdays and Saturdays (except the third Tuesday in October) the historic Charter Market comes to town. Other markets take place throughout the year, and between 23 November and 17 December (dates tbc) you can join the festivities at the city’s delightful Christmas Market.

Just one of many exciting events to choose from in 2017, the world-renowned Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival runs from 26 May-10 June and this year looks west to the province of Quebec. Popular arts venues include Salisbury Playhouse, Salisbury Arts Centre, Fisherton Mill and City Hall Salisbury, while eating out is a pleasure thanks to an enticing range of tea and coffee shops, pubs, bars and restaurants. With so much to do throughout the day and on into the early hours of the morning, Salisbury has been awarded Purple Flag status – the ‘gold standard’ for a great night out. 2017: It's time for Salisbury

Salisbury Cathedral
With the UK’s tallest spire visible for miles around, Salisbury Cathedral is one of Britain’s finest medieval buildings and home to an original 1215 Magna Carta, one of only four in the world.

Marvel at the beautiful gothic architecture and eight acres of rolling lawn, see the world’s oldest working clock and discover 800 years of history with our expert volunteer guides.

The Cathedral runs a lively programme of events throughout the year and is a venue for this summer’s Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival.

New for 2017 are library and graffiti tours, and a major sculpture exhibition by Ana Maria Pacheco.
