Speakers and final programme announced for The Great West Way Industry Conference on Thursday 30 March

The Great West Way conference programme has now been finalised and details of workshops are now available.
  • Confirmed speakers include: Josephine O’Driscoll from Failte Ireland, Andrew Stokes, VisitBritain and key note speaker – Rebecca Stephens MBE. 
  • Four workshops giving you the opportunity to input to, and help us develop, the future direction of the Great West Way. These are titled:
    • Bringing The Great West Way To Life
    • What Makes A Great West Way Experience
    • Getting The Great West Way Talked About
    • Taking the Great West Way To Market

Familiarisation Passport 2017

For 2017 we will once again be producing the popular Familiarisation Passport – details can be found here. If you would like your business to be included on the Passport by making an offer to fellow VisitWiltshire partner businesses (as well as journalists,blogger, tour operators, group travel organisers etc on reconnaissance visits pre-arranged with VisitWiltshire) please download this form and email it back to Jenny by Friday 10 March. 

Travel Trade Opportunity

We are running another VisitWiltshire Travel Trade Fam Visit 18– 20 March - "Wiltshire's Secrets". On 20 March 2pm - 4pm, there will be a one-to-one networking meeting opportunity in Devizes Town Hall. This opportunity is free to businesses on our Travel Trade group or who are supporting the familiarisation visit. Other businesses are welcome but will be charged £25 plus VAT to attend. If you would like your business to attend to meet the group organisers, trade operators and press please contact Flo.

FREE promotion of your Easter Events and Special Offers

Please send us details of your Easter events and special offers so we can promote these on our website and in social media. A press release will be written and sent out week beginning 20 March - please give us a reason to include you! Fill out our event form and send additional information to both Emma and Flo.

We are looking for competition prizes for future consumer e-newsletters. These will go out to a database of over 80k consumers and will feature on our website. If you’d be willing to offer a prize please contact Emma.

Business Rates

VisitWiltshire are seeking views from the tourism industry on business rates. If you feel strongly or have any comments about its impact on tourism please contact David, who'll be compiling a response to the Department for Culture Media & Sport.

South West LEP Rural Economy Plan

The SWLEP and the Rural Economy Sector Group are developing a Rural Economic plan for Swindon and Wiltshire. The aim of this research is to identify and value the contribution that rural-based businesses make to the overall economy. Latest International Passenger Survey Inbound Visitor Data for December 2016

Overseas residents made 9.2 million visits to the UK in the 3 months to December 2016. This was 6% higher than the same 3 months in 2015. The amount spent on these visits was unchanged at £5.3 billion. According to the Tourism Alliance, this data provides the preliminary IPS figures for 2016 and the headline figures are that visitor numbers are up 3% for the year to 37.34m but spend is static at £22.16bn.
