Open for Wine Tasting
We will be open for wine tasting on September 24 and 25. We will be pouring a selection of wines -- Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet, Zinfandel, and Merlot Dessert wine -- from noon to 5 pm on both days. Wine tasting is $5 per person, waived with a purchase. Wine tasting is free for wine club members.
Be sure to ask for a peek inside the winery as we will have Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in fermenters.
We will be continuing our late summer tradition of giving away iris rhizomes from winemaker Neil's garden. We have an assortment of blue, purple, yellow, and white irises--the rhizomes are free with a wine purchase.
2016 Harvest Report
The 2016 harvest has started! Every year is different, with weather being a big determinant as to when harvest starts and which grapes ripen first. The El Niño rains from earlier this year have resulted in higher yields than in 2015 (thank goodness!) and, so far, the grapes seem to be consistently balanced and flavorful.
Earlier this month, we harvested, crushed, and pressed Zinfandel from Santa Clara Valley AVA and Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA. We are now about halfway through the 2016 harvest and we expect to pick Cabernet, Malbec, and Merlot within the next few weeks. Be sure to check our Facebook page for updates and photos.
