Cardinal Preschool Enrollment
Do you have a younger child at home that will be 3 or 4 by August 31? Cardinal Preschool is currently enrolling for the 2017-18 school year. Siblings of students in St. Joseph grades K-8 have priority placement until February 17. Contact Laura Veasy with questions, to receive a packet or to schedule a tour at laurav@stjoevan.org.
 
Re-Enrollment forms for the 2017-2018 school-year  
If you haven’t returned your re-enrollment forms for next school year, please bring them to the school office as soon as possible. We look forward to having your children back with us next year!
 
Middle School Math Assistance
Mrs. Puyleart is offering middle school math students an opportunity to get extra support with math skills or assistance with their assignments. Students may come to her classroom, Room 12, after school on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 3:15–4:00. If you have questions, please contact her at kimp@stjoevan.org.

Mad Science program coming this spring
Due to the snow and school closures last month, Mad Science will not offer a winter session this year as initially planned. We will have a session in the spring, so watch for registration information to come home after the date is finalized.
 
Parent Education Night: “College Financial Planning”
Join us for a special educational workshop presented by Colleen Lenard, Financial Advisor for Waddell and Reed, Inc. We will explore: Current and future college costs; sources of college funds; Financial Aid, scholarships and loans; 529 plans and Coverdell Education Savings Accounts. When you attend the workshop, you will receive a free 20 page workbook on college funding. Join us Tuesday, February 21, 6:30-8:00 pm in Marian Hall. RSVP to Laura Veasy at laurav@stjoevan.org by February 14, to reserve your spot and workbook!
 
PTO President-Elect Needed for the 2017-2018 school-year
Come to the PTO meeting next Tuesday to observe, ask questions and see if PTO President is a position you are called to fill. PTO President is a two-year term, and Laura Ashton is approaching the end of her term and will not be available to serve next year. Therefore, we are searching for a President-Elect that can shadow Laura for the remainder of the year in order to hit the ground running next year. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Laura at pto@stjoevan.org.
 
Box Top Contest
Remember to bring in your Box Tops by Feb. 24. Please attach your Box Tops to the collection sheet and place them in a bag with the student’s name, homeroom teacher and grade. After March 1, we will announce the student and the class that brought in the most Box Tops. Prizes will be awarded to each. Please make sure the Box Tops have not expired, as we don’t receive credit for them!
 
Upcoming VIRTUS Safe Environments in-person training
All parent volunteers need to be up to date with the Archdiocese of Seattle’s Safe Environments requirements before volunteering. This means that you’ve attended an in-person VIRTUS “Protecting God’s Children” class and have a current background check on file. Background checks are required in the first year of volunteering and then each three years after the initial in-person training. An online refresher class is also required each three years after the initial training is completed.
 
This is the only class scheduled in the area at this time, so if you are not yet up to date with training requirements, please plan to attend this class so you will be able to volunteer, help out in the classroom, and drive on field trips.
