Shaping Their Own Environment
This summer, students at West Philadelphia High School unveiled a new multi-use outdoor space they designed and built with help from PennPraxis, the center for applied research, outreach, and practice at Weitzman, in collaboration with the Netter Center for Community Partnerships at Penn. It’s the latest undertaking from PennPraxis’s Design to Thrive program, which was established through a $7.5 million gift by Lori Kanter Tritsch (MArch’85), a member of the Weitzman School Board of Advisors, and William Lauder (W’83), a Penn trustee. “I am thrilled that Design to Thrive will have a significant learning impact on the young people who participate, as well as on the Weitzman students who design and teach the programs,” says Kanter Tritsch.
